HCPT Group 134

Group 134
2006 saw Group 134’s 25 anniversary. Group 134 first went to Lourdes in 1981 and travelled over 900 miles by train until 1996 when the group started to travel by air from Manchester.

Group 134 has took on average ten children every year and has taken approximately 250 children in total over the 25 years.

Group Leaders
Peter Crowden was the first Group Leader and stayed at the Mary Magdalene Hotel for 2 years. Following this Madge McGrath became the Group Leader and discovered the Hotel Roissy.

Madge became the Group Leader for 6 years until Peter returned and was Group Leader until 1997 when Bernard Gajewski took over. Bernard was Group Leader for nine years until 2006 when Nicola Grandy took over. Nicola took the group to the Hotel Solitude where we currently reside. In 2009 Phil Crawford and Mike Fallon took over the leadership of G134 while Nicola became Group Nurse.

Group Nurses
In Group 134's 28 year history we have had six group nurses. The first Group Nurse was Bernadette (Not the original one!) followed by Catherine, then Caroline, Sarah, then Caroline again, until our longest standing Nurse from Hell Fiona (12 years) took the helm from 1997 until 2008. 2009 Saw ex-Group Leader Nicola Grandy wearing a different hat as the Group Nurse. She enjoyed the role so much that she's going to do it agin in 2010!

Group Chaplains
Group 134 has had seven Group Chaplins over the years with the most recent being Fr Paul from 2003 until 2008. Unfortunately Fr Paul couldn't travel with us in 2009 so Eddie and Helen stepped up and did a fantastic job as our Lay Group Chaplins. For 2010 we have Fr Peter from St Lukes leading our liturgy and we are looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us!
